Meet our New Chairman of the Board

Patricia Calnon-Allen

On September 1, 2010, Patricia Calnon-Allen assumed the position of chairman of the Neuhaus Board of Trustees. Patricia has been involved with Neuhaus since 1992. She is a graduate of Neuhaus’ dyslexia therapist preparation program who worked with students for seven years in private practice and provided assistance in the Neuhaus Basic Language Skills course.

Patricia earned her master’s degree in education from the University of Houston and has served on both the Neuhaus board of trustees and the advisory board over the past seven years. She has served as secretary of the board of trustees and co-chaired the development committee. She and her husband, Jim, are members of the Reading Circle. Patricia also serves on the School Board at Incarnate Word Academy where she is also a member of the scholarship committee.

When asked about her plans for Neuhaus, Patricia emphasized the role of the advisory board and the board of trustees in bringing the gift of reading to thousands of children: “Our exceptional, dedicated board members are the ambassadors who tell the brilliant Neuhaus story to the community at the local, state, and national level.” Her goals include nurturing the relationships between the boards so that every person has the opportunity to make a contribution, and Neuhaus can benefit from the unique talents of each person to the fullest extent.

The Allens have three children: Kaitlyn, working on a master’s degree at Georgetown University; Jeffrey, a geologist in Houston; and Bridget, a junior at St. Edward’s University.
