Comments for Does my child have learning disorders other than, or in addition to, dyslexia?:
My son was given no help at school so I took him to private tutoring until I simply could not afford it any longer. He can read in context but cannot decode words so words in isolation are very difficult. He cannot spell and is now refusing to consider some careers becaurse he thinks he is too dumb to go for ones that he really wants. It breaks my heart because he is really a smart young man!
At our previous school, my daughter was found to be dyslexic and received services and was learning quickly at last. Now she is found to not qualify for 504 services and they will only pull her for level 2 RTI. The dyslexic teacher says she has ADHD and not dyslexcia
Is he in 504 program, they can give him accommodations. When you have your yearly meetings at school thats when you tell them what he needs and his teachers will be informed of what he needs. I also offer a book that I have to my daughters teacher in case they need to read on dyslexia. Offer this website I do and it seems to help my daughters teachers and other parents as well.
My Child is having problems everyday. His school knows he has Dyslexia but they continue to tell me he works so slow , he forgets papers, He makes zero's but he is smart and does his work but yes he is slow. I get so tired of hearing this I could scream! I need support or advice to handle this .
