UPCOMING EVENTS 23rd Annual Benefit Luncheon and Seminar Neuhaus Education Center is already in the process of planning our 23rd Annual Benefit Luncheon and Seminar to take place in 2009. Our signature event is one that you will not want to miss! Please check back here often for event up-dates. During this past year’s event, Former First Lady Barbara Bush was our Keynote Speaker. More than 1100 guests came to enjoy a wonderful afternoon of great food, fun and friendship as Mrs. Bush shared her insight on the importance of breaking the cycle of illiteracy. Fridays @ Neuhaus Seminars are suitable for both parents and educators who wish to expand their knowledge of literacy instruction. The series covers a wide range of subject areas that address the needs of children of all ages and in any stage of reading development. The seminar series is taught by our professional teaching team as well as other professionals who are experts in their fields. All seminars are held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on select Fridays. Enhance your career by improving your reading and spelling skills. Neuhaus Education Center offers reading and spelling classes to adults, 18 years and older, who wish to improve their reading and spelling skills. The classes are suitable for individuals reading at a third-grade level or higher. Lessons are designed to teach: phonemic awareness, the six syllable types, syllable division strategies, reliable spelling patterns, rules for adding affixes, word origins, and strategies for learning frequently misspelled words. (More information.) Classes, offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, are taught by Neuhaus-trained teachers and kept small for maximum learner benefit.
