Neuhaus offers educational seminars during the school year which are designed to give parents and professionals in-depth information and strategies:
  • for building a child's literacy skills;
  • to foster understanding of learning difficulties; and
  • to promote academic success.
Some seminars are presented by our professional teaching staff, others by professionals who are experts in other fields.
 

How can I register for Seminars?

  • Register online with your MasterCard or VISA credit card
    • Not suitable for registering multiple participants
  • Print a registration form and mail or fax it with your payment to Neuhaus
    • see fax and mailing information to right or on form
    • for fast processing, make sure registration forms are completely filled out
  • Registration and payment must be received seven (7) days prior to the seminar date.
 

From Friendship to Bullying: The Social Side of Learning Differences

You send them off to school to learn the academics, but they are more interested in what happens on the playground. What can you do to help your child make friends? Ms. Wiseman will explore the social side of learning and how learning differences may affect a child’s social skills. She will discuss ways to facilitate friendships and promote protective factors to deal with potential bullying.

The Basics of Reading on Reading Teachers Network (RTN)

Reading Teachers Network (RTN) is Neuhaus Education Center’s premier online source for research-based reading resources. In this session, participants tour RTN and learn how to reinforce the important prerequisite reading skills of letter recognition, phonological awareness, and oral language through videos, LessoNets, and reproducible materials. Activities and materials are appropriate for students in Grades K-2.

Navigating School Changes

Which learning situation is the best for your child? New school, new teacher, or new classmates…. What can you do to prepare your child for change?
Dr. Dybell will talk to elementary and middle school parents about how to interpret and apply your child’s test report as you make decisions about educational programs. She will also address  social and emotional aspects to consider in making these transitions.

In this session, participants tour RTN, Neuhaus Education Center’s premier online source for research-based reading resources, and learn how to reinforce syllable division, spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension through videos, Webinars, and LessoNets. Activities are appropriate for students in Grades 3-8.

When the school bell stops ringing and the backpacks are put away, what will your child do for the twelve weeks of summer?  There is no need to panic, because Gina Novellino, Ph.D., LSSP, and Sarah Gish of Gish Creative will give you concrete summer survival tips and ideas so that you can come up with a fabulous summer plan!
 
Dr. Novellino will help parents plan summer break by sharing creative suggestions for providing necessary structure and for motivating students to maintain academic skills, while having fun with summer activities.
 
Sarah Gish will have information on various resources for summer fun in Houston including The Summer Book®: A Guide to Houston Day Camps for Kids and Teens, which is included in the materials for the seminar.
