| Michelle Beard, Ph.D., and Mary Durheim, Education Advocate | ||

You heard what the diagnostician said, but what did it mean? Why isn’t 100 a perfect score? How do you decide what to do and where to start? How can you tell he is dyslexic? When is it Special Ed? What is 504? “How can we help my child?” This is a complex and emotional topic.
Dr. Beard is a psychologist who assesses children who have learning problems. In this seminar, she will demystify the vocabulary of testing and direct parents, therapists and teachers to the main points of a test report and shed some light on the diagnosis of dyslexia and reading disabilities.
Mary M. Durheim, is an educational advocate with the Educational Rights Information and Consulting Center in McAllen, TX. She is an expert on the details of educational placement and the law as it relates to learning problems. She will help us understand the connection between the testing, the school placement, and appropriate intervention.
