2023 Annual Benefit Luncheon

For more than 40 years, Neuhaus Education Center has been a trailblazer in solutions for overcoming obstacles to literacy, including dyslexia, and today we are a nationally recognized leader in the science of reading. Our professional instruction for teachers, referral and resource services for families, and classes for adult learners unlock a brighter future of Literacy for All.

We are excited to announce that our Literacy Lights the Way luncheon will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, and chaired by Ethel and Chap Hutcheson and Laura and Chris Hutcheson. The event will be held at The Post Oak Hotel, a new venue for this event, and feature keynote speaker Ameer Baraka. Ameer is an accomplished actor, author, and educator. A New Orleans-born actor, Ameer has co-starred on Fox’s hit, American Horror Story, HBO’s Tremé, and Oprah Winfrey’s Blackboard Wars. He is a champion for prison reform, mentor for at-risk youth, and devoted fighter for highlighting issues stemming from dyslexia.

The luncheon also celebrates those who are champions of the Literacy for All cause. This year, we are thrilled to honor Marjorie and Palmer Hutcheson for their commitment to the mission of Neuhaus Education Center. Marjorie and Palmer have been strong advocates of Neuhaus for many years serving on the board of directors and in various other leadership roles. Through their generous support, Neuhaus has created meaningful and lasting relationships advocating for the importance of literacy.
