Accurate & Automatic Reading: First Instruction

Accurate and Automatic Reading is a professional development course focused on building essential foundational word identification skills through explicit, systematic instruction of the structure of the English language with supporting reading practices.

In Accurate and Automatic Reading, participants:

1) Learn to deliver effective, evidence-based decoding lessons;
2) Learn strategies to help students accurately read words and how to attach meaning to the words; and
3) Practice and plan evidence-based 30-minute decoding lessons.

Accurate and Automatic reading is a daily instructional framework based on the tenets of structured literacy that explicitly and systematically teaches decoding and word identification strategies to students so that they become accurate, automatic, and fluent readers with deep comprehension.
