Small Group Literacy Instruction

Small group instruction provides focused instruction on specific student needs. Small Group: Core instruction is delivered during the daily literacy block, incorporates core instruction materials, and scaffolds students’ reading. Small Group: Focused instruction is delivered through independent activities that students complete alone, with a partner, in a triad or a larger group during the daily literacy block. Small Group: Intervention is delivered in addition to the daily literacy instruction for those students who are not keeping pace with their peers—the greater the need, the smaller the group.
In Small Group Instruction Modules, a campus literacy leader learns how to facilitate six online modules with campus faculty. The modules outline the importance of small group instruction. The literacy leader is given a facilitator manual and access to the modules for 60 days.
