Close Listening that Leads to Close Reading: Interactive Read Aloud

December 12, 2023 4:49 pm

In Close Listening that Leads to Close Reading: Interactive Read Aloud, teachers will learn: the foundations of comprehension; the rationale and research behind close reading and close listening; analysis of text for complexity; text dependent questioning; modeling by thinking aloud; the elements to teach such as author’s word choice, voice, and tone; and how to bring all the elements together to address a teaching standard. The fundamental principle on which the class is based is that read aloud lessons must be planned and intentional. Participants plan, model, and leave with a read aloud lesson.
